How to clear your browser cache and site data on desktop browsers to resolve common IndieBase issues

Clearing Browser Data (Desktop)

If IndieBase is behaving unexpectedly — showing outdated data, failing to load, or behaving inconsistently — clearing your browser's cache and site data is one of the most effective first steps. It forces the browser to fetch a fresh copy of the app and clears any corrupted local storage that might be causing the problem.

Before you clear anything, make sure your data has synced. If you've been working offline, open IndieBase and wait for the sync indicator to clear before proceeding. Clearing browser data removes locally stored information, and anything that hasn't synced to the server will be lost.

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three-dot menu () in the top-right corner of Chrome, then select Settings.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Privacy and security, then Clear browsing data.
  3. Switch to the Advanced tab for more control over what gets cleared.
  4. Set Time range to Last hour to start — if that doesn't resolve the issue, repeat with All time.
  5. Tick Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
  6. Click Clear data.

You can also open this dialog directly by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (macOS).

Firefox

  1. Click the three-line menu () in the top-right corner, then select Settings.
  2. Click Privacy & Security in the left sidebar.
  3. Scroll down to the Cookies and Site Data section and click Clear Data.
  4. Tick both Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content.
  5. Click Clear.

Safari (macOS)

  1. In the menu bar, click Safari then Settings (or Preferences on older versions of macOS).
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Click Manage Website Data.
  4. In the search field, type indiebase.net to find the IndieBase entry.
  5. Select it and click Remove, or click Remove All to clear all site data in one go.
  6. Click Done.

Clearing data in Safari only removes it for the sites you select — you won't affect stored data for other websites unless you click Remove All.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three-dot menu () in the top-right corner, then select Settings.
  2. Click Privacy, search, and services in the left sidebar.
  3. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  4. Set Time range to Last hour, or All time if the issue persists.
  5. Tick Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
  6. Click Clear now.

After Clearing

Once you've cleared your browser data:

  1. Close your browser completely — don't just close the tab.
  2. Reopen your browser and navigate to indiebase.net.
  3. Log in with your credentials.
  4. Give the app a moment to re-sync your data before continuing work.

If the original issue is still present after clearing, raise a support ticket via the Helpdesk so the team can investigate further.
