How to clear browser cache and data on mobile devices to resolve common IndieBase issues
Clearing Browser Data (Mobile)
If IndieBase is behaving unexpectedly on your phone or tablet — slow to load, stuck on a blank screen, or showing stale data — clearing your browser's cached data usually fixes it. This wipes locally stored files and cookies so the browser fetches a clean copy of the app.
Before you clear: if you've been working offline, make sure your device has synced any unsaved records first. Connect to the internet, open IndieBase, and wait for the sync to complete before proceeding.
iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Safari
Safari's cache is cleared through the iOS Settings app rather than within Safari itself.
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Scroll down and tap Safari.
- Scroll down to Clear History and Website Data.
- Tap it and confirm when prompted.
This will clear your browsing history and cached data across all websites, not just IndieBase. You'll need to log back in to any sites you were signed in to.
Chrome (iOS)
- Open the Chrome app.
- Tap the three-dot menu (...) in the bottom-right corner, then tap Settings.
- Tap Privacy then Clear Browsing Data.
- Make sure Cached Images and Files and Cookies, Site Data are both ticked.
- Tap Clear Browsing Data to confirm.
Android
Chrome
- Open the Chrome app.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, then tap Settings.
- Tap Privacy and security, then Clear browsing data.
- Set the Time range to All time to ensure nothing is left over.
- Tick Cookies and site data and Cached images and files.
- Tap Clear data.
Firefox
- Open the Firefox app.
- Tap the three-dot menu, then tap Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Delete browsing data.
- Ensure Cookies and Cache are both selected, then tap Delete browsing data to confirm.
After Clearing
Once you've cleared the cache, follow these steps to get back up and running:
- Close the browser app fully — swipe it away from your recent apps.
- Reopen the browser and navigate to indiebase.net.
- Log in with your usual credentials.
- Wait for the app to finish loading and syncing before using it.
If the issue persists after clearing, try the reinstall approach below or raise a ticket via the helpdesk.
Reinstalling the PWA
If you've installed IndieBase as an app on your home screen (the PWA version), reinstalling it is a clean alternative to clearing cache manually.
- Press and hold the IndieBase icon on your home screen and delete or remove it.
- Open your browser and navigate to indiebase.net.
- When prompted, add IndieBase to your home screen again.
- Open the newly installed app, log in, and allow it to sync.
Reinstalling the PWA is particularly effective if clearing the browser cache alone didn't resolve your issue, as it also resets the service worker and any locally cached app files.
